IGCL Power Over

Activation Protocols

  • • The batting captain can declare it only before the first ball of any over. Once declared, it cannot be changed.
  • • If a team has not used its Power Over by the end of the 9th over, it is automatically applied to the 10th over.
Scoring Rules

Runs scored off the bat are doubled:

1 run = 2
2 runs = 4
3 runs = 6
4 runs = 8
6 runs = 12

* Extras (wides, no balls, byes, leg byes) do not double. Wide = 1 run, No Ball = 1 run.

Wicket Fall Regulations

A wicket still counts as a normal wicket. The Power Over continues until the over is completed.

Example: Ball 1: 6 (12 runs) | Ball 2: Wicket | Ball 3: 2 (4 runs) | Ball 4: Dot | Ball 5: 4 (8 runs) | Ball 6: 1 (2 runs). Total = 26 runs, 1 wicket.
* If the batting team is all out, the innings ends immediately and the over does not continue.
Statistics & Record Tracking
  • • Batter Statistics: Batter's personal runs remain normal (e.g. scoring 14 runs in Power Over awards 14 runs on personal record for awards like Orange Cap).
  • • Bowler Statistics: Bowler's conceded runs also remain normal (e.g. giving 14 runs counts as 14 conceded in bowler economy).
  • • Team Score: Only the team total gets doubled for runs scored from the bat during the Power Over (Power Over Runs = 14). This keeps stats fair while raising match excitement.
Article 18

Strategic Timeout

Each innings includes one (1) Strategic Timeout of a maximum of 90 seconds, called between overs with approval from the Match Referee.

Article 19

Time Regulations

  • • Teams must report to the venue 60 minutes before match start.
  • • Toss will occur exactly 30 minutes before the scheduled match time.
  • • Slow Over Rate penalties may apply to teams failing to finish within the timeline.
Article 20

Rain & Interrupted Matches

  • • A minimum number of overs are required to constitute a result.
  • • Targets are recalculated using the tournament's adopted mathematical method.
  • • The Match Referee's decisions on playing conditions are final.
